Brief

A five-field contract (objective, audience, constraint, deliverables and source) that is checked before the studio starts. In , the flag goes on the vague field, not the writer.

Retainer utilization

Hours used against a retainer divided by the hours it commits, per client and period. Well under 100% means the client is paying for hours not yet delivered; over 100% means the agency is giving time away.

Project margin

The fee minus the cost of the hours logged, each priced at the rate in effect that day, divided by the fee. While the project runs, works it out and flags a project whose hours burn faster than its timeline.

Service match

A ranked list of who fits a service, scored by a fixed formula on each required and preferred skill's level and on experience. In , you see why each person fits, not a model's opinion.

Tool sprawl
